Tau: The expansion program for establishing beach heads on Persephone Prime has been escalated. It is clear that new forms of technology (i.e. Necron) that the Tau seek could provide a significant advantage during the Third Sphere Expansion. I must say that I've been experiencing some pretty wild goings on at my hobby desk. Things that I had been unable to explain until I set up one of those baby monitor cameras and pointed it at the top of my desk.
<below the fold> As some of you are aware, I picked up a Canoptek Spyder model on eBay a few months ago and it wasn't until recently that I had a chance to put it together. Little did I know the chain of events I would trigger once that seemingly simple task, building the Spyder, was completed. It was only a little while after I finished constructing the Spyder, that I began to notice that the contents on my hobby desk had been rearranged. Now, in as active a household as we have, little things here and there are going to move around a bit. Someone will borrow an X-acto knife or glue. A particular color of paint might attract someone's interest, a bottle of glue might shift from the left side to the right, but those are fairly common occurrences and to be expected. I think as a result of my dyslexia, I am very positional with everything I come into contact with. The table was cold.
Just like every medicae office he'd ever been in, especially in the Guard. Beeson wasn't sure why they separated everyone into individual cells, maybe it was to keep them from talking to each other, maybe it was to see if any of them would crack. The door to his cell opened up. Outside were two large, oddly shaped figures and a smaller, frailer looking figure standing between them. For reasons he was unable to determine, Beeson was more disturbed by the smaller of the three. "So why are you here Mr. Smythe?" whispered the smaller man. "Uh, I don't know who Smythe is, my name is Beeson. Jared Beeson." "Is that so, I must be confused. So you are here Mr. Sm-Beeson, to join the Dragon, is that correct?" 'Y-yes sir. I want to be part of the change. I was told that you, uh, or the 'dragon' were going to change things. That we wouldn't have to live like we do, in the slums, worked to death...unappreciated. I was told that the 'Dragon' was going to change everything. I want to be a part of that." "I see. So you want to...fight against your rulers, Mr. Beeson? You came here to give the Dragon something?" Beeson replied, "Yes sir." "It is as you feared."
"The Gue'ron'sha have returned. Curiously, we note that there appear to be two different sects or organizations operating on the surface, one of which we have encountered before during the Mu'gulath Expansion. Also of interest is the fact that they do not seem to be working in coordination with each other. We are surmising that each may be here for different reasons." The Por'O pondered this information briefly, before replying, "Is this type of behavior common?" The holographic image looked down off the screen as if reading. "No, this is unlike our previous exposures to their efforts. In other Gue'la campaigns, such as Tar'O they have operated independently of others sects, whereas the continuing expansion across the Third Sphere Gulf, we have faced multiple sects working in loose conjunction with each other. In this case, we have to assume that they are not aware of each other's actions." Irritated, the Por'O shot back, "That makes no sense! How are they to synergize the results of their efforts...how are we to know what their intentions are if they won't work together?" <silence> "Very well, let's get going Jervis." said the Lord Commandant.
"Yes, sir. If you will reference the map on the wall. First off, you'll note the green area in the upper right, which has been labeled 'Dragon town'. This descriptor has been feeding into us from some of our informants who are still active in that area. The intel that we are getting is that once someone goes in, they are never heard from again. We've had safe houses and listening posts in that general area as well, all neutralized by means unknown. When we can get an agent or servitor into the area, they disappear as well, usually within 48 hours standard. What is most disconcerting is the fact that the area in just a few short weeks has grown from the dashed area to the current size." Glumly, "We don't know why that is or what is driving the expansion." "Also troubling...the green dots you see to the Southwest are snatch and grab operations, which although successful, have yet to produce a living target to interrogate. They are occurring in areas where we've not seen targets before, so it's almost as if there is some sort of migration, generally in a Southwest direction. Again, to what purpose we do not know." "The um, targets, are we losing them for the same reasons as before?", queried the Commandant. ...no one can hear the Tau go "Wheeeee". +++ The hologram figure popped up from the Por'O's data tablet.
"We are tracking an extremely elevated level of "soft" surveillance and cordon screening amongst the inter-system traffic. All communication bands are experiencing increased traffic both on the surface and between various Imperial Naval assets and task forces. This activity has begun in the last rotaa." Continuing, the Kor'la communications analyst stated, "For reasons we are unable to determine, some set of circumstances have driven the humans into a flurry of activity." The Por'O queried, "Are you telling me that you are unable to decipher these communications?" The Kor'la analyst stated, "No, I am not saying that. We are able to intercept, decrypt, and read all of their communications, except for one signal, as clearly as we as speaking now. That isn't the problem." "Then what is the problem?" Def. Flensing Scarabs are swarms of specifically designed Scarabs designed to swiftly and violently separate flesh from bone. Yeah, I'm back and it's bugs again. While I was doing research for the Children of the Dragon and Necrons in general, I came upon the above entry in the 40K Lexicanum awhile ago. At the time I didn't think a lot about it, but while I was putting together the cultists I was suddenly struck by an idea. Small as insects, reduces organisms to bone with terrifying speed and all of a sudden this happened... "Sarge, why are cultists always in the fething sewers? I hate sewers!" "Because they're slime, Ryzoswski. The sewers are for slime, that's where they are, that's why we're here. Now cut the chatter and stay sharp." The Special Response Team continued down the tunnel, part of a coordinated effort to flush out the location of the higher ranking members of this new cult. Bronke as the team leader of his squad had no idea why all of a sudden the special order placing multiple "Sert" teams down in the Emperor cursed fething sewers had happened, he just knew that most likely, they'd spend all day down here, not find anything and come out smelling like a, well...a sewer.

"Okay Jervis, proceed with your update." "Yes, Lord Commandant. Not surprisingly, the results of the raid were inconclusive. Although the target was apprehended, his subsequent escape..." <interrupts> "Lord Commandant, I strenuously object! The prisoner did not "escape". We've all seen the vid cam footage, the interviews extracted from the guards on duty, various sensor tools in operation, as well as resulting data analytics, I repeat, the prisoner did not escape!" Jervis smiled, "So then...Commander...how would you explain the circumstances of his disappearance?" "The prisoner left of his own volition by means that are still under investigation." Jervis replied, "And when do you think you'll conclude your...investigation Commander?" The Lord Commandant stepped, "That's enough you two. The circumstances around the prisoner's disappearance are bothersome in that it seems to indicate capabilities we are currently unfamiliar with. As a result, I have requested additional support from the Ordo Xenos to assist us with this troubling matter. Now continue Jervis." "Where in the feth did they get a Chimera?" [silence] "I thought you said that this...cult was in the early stages? That it was developing its network. Does a fething Chimera sound like 'developing' to you?" [silence] "WELL DOES IT?" "N-no sir...M'Lord" "Very well, I want you to run through the operation details again and I better be impressed with your attention to detail this time around." Weaallll, Jefe, Mo, Gar and I kicked off the start of our 2016 campaign this past Saturday and had a blast doing something completely different <cue Monty Python intro>. If you read the mission post (if not, go ahead and take a look, I'll wait till you get back) <pause>...
What can I say, the post needed something to grab your attention. Alright, here's where we are. If you read last week's post, then you'll know that we are preparing for some storytelling via a linked narrative series of games. If you didn't then, now you do.
The set up will be using some old scenarios that I've modified from White Dwarf to place certain forces in specific positions so that the story can advance. In short, an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor is attempting to infiltrate forces into dangerous Crime Guild territory to acquire a person of interest known as "Mad Jack". The operation has been ordered so that someone with perceived connections to the still nascent cult "Children of the Dragon". The inquisitor does not have a lot of intel at this point and therefore is collecting facts, observations, and in some cases, individuals to flesh out his picture of what is going on. So we have good guys (played by Jefe), a person of interest (Mad Jack) and all we were needing were some bad guys to shoot up. MISSION BRIEF: TO: LORD INQUISITOR xxxx SECURITY LEVEL: VERMILLION XREF: 345FE4-23F3-UARW409 A picture is emerging, albeit still fuzzy, of an emerging cult that appears to be coalescing around multiple underworld personalities. Imperial informants, those that have not disappeared in recent times, bring mentions or hints of a personality known as "The Emissary", while in the same general thread of scuttlebutt, also use words and local phrases in conjunction with the words "Dragon sent", "Dragon blessed", and "Child of the Dragon".
After intense cogitation analytics efforts, our data pulls have not been able to tie this movement with any known previous cult or association. We have been able to infer by association that this cult has infiltrated not only several Labor Unions, but we have also observed infrequent associations with several of the more disreputable crime guilds. Although the more tangible evidence of nefarious scheming has yet to surface, the extreme secrecy with which this cult conducts their operations, leaves me gravely concerned. For some reason I am reminded of a local poisonous weed that seeks to establish an extensive root network before reaching out for sources of water to tap into and consequently contaminate with dire effects to those dependent upon the water. I am greatly concerned about innocuous nature of this threat. Sincerely, Commandant Ronaldus Gaius Falke Arbites Sector X02-934 Krikey was having a crappy day. As a Captain of the Arbites, Precinct 2115, one of the scummiest districts in the capitol, he couldn't believe the reports that lay in front of him. For several months now, the surrounding populace had not engaged in any riots, all of the "joy" dealers were missing and their street corners left standing vacant, and psyker sightings were at an all time low. If it weren't for the fact that attendance at Imperial worship services, as reported by the Ecclesiarchy, continued to decline at an alarming rate, Krikey could have been a happy man. But something was seriously wrong in the big city. Well hello there, long time no see. I'd really like to be able to say, "Honey, I'm baaaack!", but unfortunately, this is going to be more like an unannounced visit from that crazy Uncle Bob on your Dad's side that your Mom can't stand. Also , you'll notice that the subject matter is a little different than what you are used to seeing from me, though the explanation is rather simple.
My first and one true love is my Templars. I started them back a few years ago and fully immersed myself in their lore, when we still had the 4th Edition codex going for us, even as we were in the latter stages of 5th edition and jumping into 6th was not yet on the horizon. Prior to that, I had started a DIY Chapter of my own design whose lore, which quite unknowingly on my part, was very similar to Templars in a lot of ways. ...at last I've found you... First off, "no" I didn't just discover "that". By the way, "Young Frankenstein" is still a brilliant movie and Madeline Khan was "teh hot". NO, what I was excited about is finding this... I know, you're probably wondering what's so exciting about a jar of baby corn? Nothing really unless you are super hungry. What this jar of baby corn contains is my bug dip from many years ago. Sitting on the shelf where I last left it, under the assumption that I'd need it again.
It's amazing how smart I used to be. What is even more exciting is that it's still good, so now instead of having to recreate the tones and color saturation of the previous batches, I can pick up where I left off. |
