Welcome to the RUSTY DOME! It's rematch time, and a clash between bloggers! Todd from Sincain40k brings the new Craft World Eldar to face down the rusty walkers of doooooom (and explosions). Dreads would explode, explode, and explode some more! I hope you are ready for a Michael bay series of explosions ladies and gentlemen! But wait...there are two new dreads in the mob! That's right, greggles has been busy! Been on a building rampage lately. Lets see what I've finished up!

Welcome back my non resin constructed friends! This past week I was in a resin paradise (or hellscape depending on how you look at it), continuously cleaning, gluing, scraping, sanding, and fitting various kits. Sincain40k is coming over my place on sat to have a Nova Open rematch (and practice for trios), so I've been trying to get my remaining walkers put together in time! If you are a DC Metro (VA, MD, DC) local, a new gaming group for 40k is starting up at Victory Comics! They have a forum for scheduling games, and will be supporting/covering Warhammer 40k, Malifaux, Dropzone Commander, X-wing, Infinity, Warmahordes, Star Trek Attack Wing, and Bolt Action. Please stop by and check them out! Back to the hobby! So my main goal was to get stuff off my gaming table. This meant a lot of sanding, gluing, rubber bands, and fitting!
Welcome back everyone! This week I actually got in some games of 40k (with orks), and did a ton of hobby work...but as you'll see, sometimes you can spray and build for hours and have absolutely nothing to show for it! To start out with, I inventoried the sicaran, and snipped off the main pieces, sanded, took off mould lines and flash, then soaked and scrubbed them all. So as you can see this pile of resin is basically hours of work. It's pretty at least?
Hey Guys! Sorry I've been so quiet lately. When an RPG grips me like pillars of eternity, I can't stop playing it till I beat it. When the game takes 40 hours to beat, you can see where this eats into a lot of free time! Well I beat it last night, immediately releasing it's grip on me, and allowing me to look at the pile of stuff I need to work on. One of the first things I dived into? The kromlech juggernaught warchief I got during their sale. Graven games did a review of him here, and since then, I've wanted one of my own. The idea of a proper sized warboss brings a smile to my face :). I also did a bunch of work on the "bloggers recommend" link. Kinda of a collaboration of reviews I've found on everybodies blogs. I'll add to it as time goes on, and it's definitely a work in progress. (It's mainly for my own reference but I thought everyone else would enjoy it too!) This week's post is going to be a fair bit about works in progress. If you've been following our crazy little adventure, you'll know that we've just finished Part I of a three part narrative track featuring Apocalypse battles. The first part featured four players, each fielding 3,000 point armies. Part II will up the ante, each player committing to fielding 4,000 points as we look to mix things up a bit and expand the overall scope of the story.
In previous posts, I indicated that I was putting together a wraithknight, hence all the "giants" stuff. I'll just say this now, I knew they were bigger models, certainly not Titan sized, but I had no idea how big "big" was going to be. A wraithknight is freaking HUGE! Destroying the building and all it's inhabitants. Do you like giant walkers? Do you like rolling endless amounts of dice? Is Green your favorite color? Then you've come to the right place...because I'm working on an ork stompa, which brings new meaning to the word "Dakka Dakka!" Where did we leave off? Hmm...I was frustrated with stompa magnets, putting stuff on the stompa, cleaning the stompa, thinking about priming the stompa...basically the kit was draining me. It's a mighty big kit...I mean the little turret on his shoulder? That's a killa kan body. That's how big this guy is! So one of the problems I ran into...was I didn't prep properly with magnets. I used way to small, and way too weak. So I had to spend a lot of time redoing nearly all the magnets. First off, I had forgotten about the little crows nest tower and I glued things on the wrong side...so I had to find a way to both fit it, and allow for transport. (most of this stompa is magnetized for transport, because I want to play with it!) So I found a little spot on the top to take the crows nest, and it worked pretty good.
Welcome back everyone! I hope you are all recovering from your holiday illnesses (paper cuts from opening presents), and new years hangovers. I'm finally feeling better, and have dived back into the hobby spectacular! Santa Ork brought be quite a gift this xmas, and the great Gork and Mork looked down upon me, and felt I could use the Dakka of a Stompa! The second I had a chance, I tore into this box, and started building it immediately. As you'll see, this was not the easiest of builds, and I dare say, one of the hardest models I've put together. (right up there with my mega dread!)
Welcome back mis amigos! As I promised, here are all the lovely textures I collected from San Juan. I put them up in the paints and pots section, so it wouldn't kill the main blog page. You can check them out by clicking on the image bellow, or the over sized zeal button beneath it. If you miss both of these, there may be a button at the bottom. Who knows. Maybe you feel lucky! In other news, I got a whole slew of hobby goodies when I got back from vacation. There will be a bunch of photos and discussion of those in the following sentences and images!
Welcome everybody! I hope you like bases...because Greggles is crazy about bases currently! That's right, it's another post about making a base! This time I upscale the base one more step, and bump it to 60mm. This base is going to be used for the deff dread that is both part of my LVO and Nova lists. From this point on, all the ork stuff is being painted and designed for Nova, and will just happen to work with LVO. (Trying to double to save on costs and transport) I read on another blog, that an excellent source for cork like material was Ikea table mats. It just so happened I have a few old ones, so I tore into them. It's perfect support structures for a base. Here you can also see the various materials I set aside to use in the base construction. Though I did this in kinda of a roundabout way, I've come up with the concept forthe bases. They are going to represent a crashed space hulk that the orks have been ransacking. This provides both the reasoning for this style base, gives a link to the daemon summoning, and also a reason why other races would suddenly show up to try and take what is rightfully the orks! (Plus explains all the walkers!)
Welcome back amigos! I got caught up some endless legend (I'm a sucker for 4x games) so didn't get as much done this week. Plus mordor is out, and the new alien game sounds great. There goes my painting time! Started out making some bases again. figured I'd try some random floors and grit this time, on some 40mm bases. Give me a bit more room to work in, and maybe help me to figure out color schemes.
This is the list! I've picked the list apart, I've chatted with friends, bloggers (thanks Dan!), and the ork forums. This is what I've come up with. It won't win any prizes (except maybe a pretty good looking prize hopefully), but it should be amazingly fun to play. So join me on the great journey of building an army for tournament play (LVO, BAO, NOVA, Adepticon, Narrative)
Hey Guys! Been a crazy week and I'm finally getting back into the groove of things. Today I bring you a review of the Mekanika Studio paint trays. I have been on the look out for some trays to house my mini's, and came across them a few months ago. Been storing money on the side to pick some up, and finally hit my target. So I get some paint trays, and you guys get a review! Click the image, or the following link to zoom off to the review. I try to tuck the reviews away so it's easier for browsers to access...though I've been a bit lazy in regards to my section of the sites organization. Always something to improve upon! Mekanika Studio Paint Tray Review! In other news, I've been thinking on the ork army some more, and also finally got my capital palette photo of the templar I entered. (Was lost to the warp for awhile!)
Hey guys! Welcome to the blog (if you are new here!). Been a wild weekend since we got featured on faeit 212 and then it comes to monday, and Dave over at 40k addicts featured a post about the blog that literary brought tears to my eyes. I didn't really have much to talk about this monday (after doing one post every day last week), but thought I should at least say a thanks, and talk about upcoming things I'll be working on. Hot on the heels of NOVA, I've gone ahead and booked a room at the LVO in las vegas, run by frontline gaming. Figure that way I'll get a taste of the east and west coast tournament scene. I'm still waiting on the types of events going on (tournament wise), but hope to bring an Ork list. It's ork walkers, because there wasn't enough of those at Nova. (but quite a few green tides!)
Going to be a lot of blog posts this week fellas! Hope you are ready! I have around 600 photos of Nova armies to go through, so going to split them up into multiple days. Today I'm going to be covering the Dave Weston Hobby To Do List Alumni for 2015. Still have to do a summary of Nova, all the awesome people I met...so much blogging to do! What's that you might ask? It's a loosely definite way for fellow bloggers to announce to the community what they plan to finish from now till 2015. It's a motivational way of providing inspiration for one another, and positive feedback so we all reach our goals. Dave Weston (one of my favorite blogs) started it at Confessions of a 40k Addict. Stop by and check out everyone's lists (and possibly join in!). Since my list is a bit long, I will post it after the break (along with my best of Nova open considerations). Hey Guys! What an absolutely amazing last few days. I've been at Nova Open having the time of my life. So many models, so many amazing people, so much gaming! I'm going to be breaking up these NOVA articles into sections, as there is just so much to cover. I took photos everyday, and have around 500 to go through, including nearly a shot of every single attendee's 40k army. Will take a bit to go through all the photos though, so make sure to check back as the week progresses. To start off with, I'd like to talk about the tournament atmosphere. Though I didn't participate directly, I had plenty of time to watch all sorts of players interacting with each other, and playing all sorts of games. There was invitational, trios, narrative, and GT campaigns. If you are one of those individuals who reads the main rumor blogs, or forums, you may be under the impression that these tournaments are a place filled with hatred, anger, and poor gamesman ship. This could not be further from the truth. Everyone was extremely friendly, with lots of comradery, and excellent games. Jeff over at Frontline gaming wrote on article on this, and it's spot on. Do not base your preconceptions of the tournament scene on forums or rumor sites. You'll be doing yourself a disservice. It's a wonderful time, and you will meet wonderful artists, gamers, and people. I highly recommend it. I learned so much these past few days from all aspects of the hobby...it will take me quite some time to tell you all of it! Just a quick update today, wanted to send you guys off with a nice video showcasing the size of the GT. I'll have another post tomorrow! |
