Welcome my friends! Another wonderful year at Adepticon! This year was full of great friends, great classes, and great events. Pretty much exactly what you would expect from this event!
Before going further, if you haven't seen my photo coverage, just check the following links!
This Adepticon was all about hanging out with friends. Yes I took some classes, but primarily, I've grown to look forward to just hanging out with the groups of people I only see a few times a year! They call it your adepticon family for a reason. It's a wonderful feeling to just shoot the breeze and argue about primarchs, and orks, and what paintbrush you are using this week...Endless amounts of fun over beers!
Speaking of super friends, the lonely havocs, Dan, Andrew, Jon, Tom, and Travis made an awesome Adepticon Vid this year, showing the expanded vendor hall, and some great games. With appearances by Scott, and Kelly. I don't think Michael made it in the vid, but he was hanging around as well! Also got to spent some time with Reece and Frankie, who are just amazing guys. It's been quite an experience to watch FLG grow from the small company into the game changing champion it is today. Always good to see good people doing well!
Also had a fantastic time hanging out with Brian, Jeff, Marc, Damon, Celso, Dan, Ashley, Joe, Joel, Cambell, Todd, Doug, Brian #2, Dave Pauwels, Dave Taylor, misterjustin, James Wappel and more amazing artists then I can shake a mini at! Can't also forget all the awesome tournament players I see every single event I attend. They are their own little amazing family!

For painting classes this year, I had a wide variety, including a slew of weathering classes. You'd imagine I'd already know everything there is to know about weathering, but as I found out, I know nothing! Did you know you could add a tiny drop of white glue to a wash to break its surface tension and get it to flow into recesses easier? Thanks Dave! Jeff's class on scratches and gouges taught me how important a good edge highlight was before doing the scratch effect. By breaking the edge highlight, it adds to the illusion, something that I never learned in the other classes! And Marc was teaching me all sorts of stuff about using oil paints to create filters. Just great stuff!
And nothing would be complete without meeting my buddy Tibbs! Who now both has a blog and a podcast. (Crazy Jeff). The queen bee was finally able to meet one of the ork knights for a wonderful time. Speaking of the ork knights, I put mine in the Crystal brush (to share, not really to compete), and upon meeting Duncan and Roger, they were excited about it, and chatted me up about how I did it. I thought they were just being polite but last night....
My grot knight showed up on the front page of warhammer community!!! So flipping excited! Life achievement unlocked! Now I just gotta get a piece in white dwarf, and place in a painting competition, then I can retire :) (just kidding).
All and all, I had an amazing time as always (even though I got crazy sick when I got back), and can't wait to go back again next year! If I forgot your name, I apologize, I was all over the place writing this post! Have a great weekend everyone! (Watch out for Poison Bats)
