"Very good sir, but I would like to point out that there is a lot going on out there and busy or not, you need to hear what I have to say. As you are able to see from the attachments, the territory firmly under control by the Dragon cult continues to grow, despite intense counter-efforts on our part."
<silence>
"Very well Jervis, proceed."
"Jervis, what the feth is going on here? How is it that bloody Astartes are walking around OUR capitol and we don't have a clue as to what is going on? How do you explain that?"
"Lord Commander, we have had suspicions regarding Astartes operations for several months now, but without any formal declaration of operations, nor any liaison staff or chain of command present, we have no one to question as to what is going on. We don't even know which chapter or chapters are present. No one, and I repeat, no one is talking to us. These events are occurring at the whims of forces we do not control and apparently they do not feel obligated to discuss with us, what they are doing here."
The Lord Commander retorted, "I ask you again Jervis, how is that possible? We are the planetary authorities are we not? How can they just ignore us?"
"Because they don't need us, my Lord. Plain and simple, they don't need us."
<silence>
The obviously irritated commander, "Well Jervis, what else don't we know? Hmm?"
The commander looked at his handout and then looked up, "It's a hole in the ground."
"Yes my Lord it is. There's just one problem. We didn't dig it. In fact as far as we can tell, nobody else did either. Also, where did all the...dirt go? You'll note that there are none of the typical signs around the general area indicating that an excavation has taken place."
Stymied, the commander looked back down at his handout before turning the page.
"These are more holes."
"Well, this has been quite an entertaining afternoon Jervis, is there anything else you'd like to share?"
"Yes, My Lord. Something more tangible for us, but no less troubling. I suppose the upside is that we know who we're involved with."
"Oh, so you do have some useful information after all. What might that be?"
"Multiple PDF armories were broken into and a large quantity of Regular Astra Militarum equipment was stolen. We are still inventorying the losses, but it certainly appears that a significant number of heavy weapons, artillery, ammunition, and several vehicles were removed. Based on the early reports from Forensics, they have been able to confirm that the propaganda leaflets and other materiel match up with previously acquired samples from the Children of the Dragon operations."
The Lord Commander, sputtered, "H-how is that possible? Those sites are heavily guarded by what I thought were reasonably competent security teams. What the feth happened?"
Jervis paused for a very long time before replying, "We don't know. We have not been able to locate a single individual from the security teams. It is as if they just vanished. All of them."
The Lord Commander barely controlling his rage, abruptly stood up, threw his briefing materials across the room at Jervis, and stomped out of the briefing room.
