Foldio 2 Review

Picture
Welcome to the second generation of the foldio 2 by orange monkey!  This 2nd revision has gone through a number of changes.
It's gotten significantly larger.
It's changed to a thicker and more durable material, while mantaining it's lightweight foldable architecture.
It has increased the # of LED lights and allow for diffuser attachments.
It has moved from a battery to plug based power system.

So how does it look and work? Lets check it out!

Picture
The back of the box is much more retail oriented!  I hope these things sell wildly well, as the company shipped without much delay on their kickstarter (which makes me super happy)

Picture
This is the boring part, but I'm doing an unwrap for you guys!

Picture
Lots of adapters for various power plugs.  The two lights with diffusers built in (I paid extra for them), which have brighter, and more LED's.  They have round dimming switches on the end, and still attach via double stick tape.

Picture
Instructions and a little  bag under everything.  I guess for traveling with those adapters!

Picture
The kickstarter comes with extra backings to slide in.  The backing is much thinner then on the foldio1. (It feels more like thicker fuzzy paper then fuzzy foam) Here's the actual foldio before it's opened.

Picture
This foldio is gigantic!  The magnets are larger then on the foldio1, so they snap together a bit easier, and are more secure.  This combined with the thicker walls and panels, makes the unit a lot less floppy, if a bit less portable.

Picture
Lights in, and power on.  It's very bright.  Considering the change in scale, I was surprised it maintained the same level (or greater) luminosity of the previous version.  The power cord is definitely a bit short.  I wish it was about twice as long.  I'm most likely going to have to use this with an extension.

Picture
The foldio1 actually fits inside the foldio2!

Picture
The stompa fits nicely inside.  (I should have adjusted the shot to crop it properly, but oh well, I was in a hurry to get this up!)

I felt that to fully understand the scale, and how the lights worked, you'd need a video.  So I made you guys one!

My overall grade for this foldio is that it is a definite improvement over the original.  It's larger, maintains or exceeds it's luminosity level, is easy to open and snap into place, and the adjustable lights are pretty cool.  I do wish the cable was longer, as it's difficult to use without an extension, and I'm still figuring out the proper way to use the backing.

Preorder the Foldio2 here if you are interested!
