This year at Awesomecon, I was able run around and take photos. It was pretty great. This year the Cosplays were really well done! A lot of good ones and some really creative works. I tried to get as many cosplay photos as I could in between running back and forth from panels. I wish I had more time to get more, and to take better photos to really capture the fine works. As a fellow cosplayer, I know how eager we can be to see our pics. So, I am posting these non edited pics while I go through and clean the rest. If you see yourself, feel free to shoot me a comment, e-mail, tweet blah blah, and I can give you credit and if you want a copy, I can do that as well. So without more blabbing, here we go. sunday

It is time for awesomecon! I had high hopes of doing cosplays of old school Vision and Iron fist. I also helped a few other people with their cosplays. Unfortunately, time constraints and changes to my work schedule kinda hit me harder than I expected and I ended up scrapping the idea of doing The Vision as well as Iron fist. So, I decided to just do Iron fist which has been on my to do list for like 3 years. Well, the week of, as I was working on it, I came home and the cleaners had tossed a bag of "fabric scraps". Except it was fabric and material I needed. I'm 85% complete, and stuck. I have a good portion done, but at this point, at 11:20pm, I may just call it, or go super craptastic and be very self conscious.
Some days for work, I have to suit up. Most days, I can go in wearing "business casual". For me that typically means slacks or khakis with a button down or polo. At least that used to be the case. Now since some things have changed, my default is going to be business style and I'm making sure to keep a spare suit at my client's office just to be double safe. you can never know when casual conference calls can turn out to be major hearings.
I woke up the other day and started going through all my emails. One was a livingsocial deal email. I usually just delete these but for some reason my dumb thumb decided to click it. 10 mins later, I am the proud owner of a hammock. I have no idea why I bought it... It isn't like I really just lay out during the summer. Not when there is AC and videogames to entertain me. Who knows maybe this year I'll just lay about in my new hammock.
So running our DnD group is always a fun little challenge as the DM. As I'm sure I talked bout before, they like to split off and do stuff at some unique times. I often have to basically run 2-3 games concurrently. I think it is fun, but it def keeps me on my feet. Now imagine my surprise when this time we had almost everyone at the session, and they all decided to regroup together! well almost...
So now that the second Avengers movie came out. The mass production of toys and products featuring characters is in full swig. The only issue being that Black Widow is still not considered marketable. There is even a toy based off a specific scene that should prominently feature her is ridiculously missing her presence. In fact, not just missing, but blatantly replaced. This is a common occurance for Disney. Why are none of female characters from the Star Wars cartoons featured products or actually missing in lineups. Same for Guardians of the Galaxy. I almost didn't create a comic based on it since it is just a disheartening thing. There are grumblings that it is a conscious business decision. How diabolical!
The other day, I had a large gap in between clients. So sat in a cafeteria and continued to draw. It was in a building with a lot of "professionals" and it happened to be around lunch time. For the most part, I was ignored since I sat tucked away on my own. Every once in a while someone would walk by and look at me or what I was doing. I got looks of approval, confusion of disapproval. Some gave that "that is cool" look/nod and other gave confused or "fucking grow up" looks. How dare anyone look down on others for doing something that they enjoy or try to improve upon themselves. The people that decided to look down on me I really wanted to turn to the darkside and force choke.Obviously I couldn't. not just cause of where I was, but cause I lack the nonchalance ability of indifference.
This was a great week (I'm including last weekend). It was free comic book day (where I got 45 single issues and 5 trades), May the fourth, Revenge of the fifth, and Cinco de Mayo. I also got to play DnD, Star Wars X-wing minis, and streamed some more of my "Last of Us" survivor mode play through where I had randoms watch and enjoy it. They actually stayed through the entire time and interacted with me. Now, thanks to the past month which brought ll the Star Wars events like Celebration and then these past few fun days I have it on my mind a lot. To be fair, it is always on my mind. hehe. I even did some artwork featuring Boba and Vader and posted them up on FB. It has been a good week honoring something that I love.
Why does it seem that offices are holding more and more meetings. Many of the meetings seem redundant or irrelevant with the advent of collaboration tools. That doesn't even include that there are emails and calls up the wazoo. Is it a thing elsewhere as well, that there are meetings upon meetings upon meetings?
The FYN crew played some 40k last weekend to practice before NOVA Trios. It was a fun day of lose gaming. For the full write up go see Greggle's post. The short version is He had Orcs stealing a relic, my guys popped out of a portal behind them and tried to burn the crap out of them. If you see my title to the right, you can see where this is going...
