walk no run

11/28/2015

Comments

Io I didn't know this was a thing, but it seems some schools have started to ban running. Running in P.E. classes. How is that a thing? How have we fallen so far that running is considered a bad thing? So this all started when a friend took their kid to their school's Turkey Trot event for all the kids. When it started, they took off just to be yelled at.... So apparently thanks to falling standards kids don't get to play or be active. Not sure how that works. Are we now always catering to the lowest denominator? We are building a society that thinks the minimum effort is the new bar? Since when have children been the ones that dictate what is good for them and when have parents started allowing them to be parented by their children? Are people lazy, is it just that people are afraid of pissing off the wrong family/person and thus not worth even attempting to challenge kids??

moving losses

Well the move is almost over. The problem with moving is little things can get lost in the shuffle. This is more likely to happen when you have others helping with the move. At other times, it can be completely your own fault and exhaustion. I prefer to blame exhaustion. (since I found it as soon as I got home)

moving week

This week is moving week. The ever so exciting time of everyone's lives. It has been a bunch of little and big annoyances for the last week outside of the typical everyday type of move process. It has been a lot more to deal with than I am used to dealing with when moving. It also is Star Wars Battlefront release week! I haven't played a fps shooter on a PC in a long time. I am really rusty. BUT, I get to play in that universe! Fly an x-wing, pilot an AT-ST, shoot troopers in the face (when I actually get a kill). Needless to say, my time has been fully tapped.

dog hearing

So as I mentioned a number of times, I am an interpreter. When I'm with Deaf people I don't use my voice (cause why would you?). Depending on who I am talking to, I may mouth some of the words at times, but I still don't vocalize. I have lived with a dog in the same house for over a year now. It seems that I have never had a conversation with a Deaf person in front of the dog. I was videochatting with someone and I had brought my surface to the living room to do so instead of staying in my room. Apparently, that can be confusing for someone who has never seen this kind of interaction. This is basically a straight telling of what happened.

umbrellas

11/13/2015

It has been somewhat rainy in DC. As I was going to work and back, I like to take notice of my surroundings. I noticed how many of us were carrying umbrellas on this one particular day. It wasn't raining at the time, but as I continued to walk, it got a little drizzly. Later on as it was raining, I noticed how different it was and how varying the attempts of staying dry were. You have those with the super "cover all of you" umbrellas that you can see through. I saw some people using as they were meant, and some not grasping the concept. I saw people using newspapers, bags, whatever they had in their hands to cover themselves. People protected their bags and possessions over themselves (I admit I do this at times). Some made makeshift ponchos, while  others just didn't care. I just thought it was fun seeing the differences of umbrella usages...

straight ahead

I think my allergies have kicked back up. I was dog free for 2 weeks, and when the dog came back, I think it just kicked me in the face. So, I slept wrong last Friday. I fell asleep on the couch and when I woke up, I had a huge kink in my neck. I still don't have full range of motion of my neck and it is Monday night. It makes many things difficult to do, and changes how you behave.

flavorless candy

11/6/2015

Earlier this week, I was craving candy. I didn't eat a lot of it during Halloween. In fact, I think I had 2 pieces the entire weekend. So come monday, I just wanted some. Problem was, that I had felt a bit congested starting Sunday morning. I wasn't sick as far as I can tell. No fever, no cough, no sore throat, no nothing... Except my sinuses were angerfying me. I could breathe, but I couldn't smell or taste anything. Every once in a while, a sinus would clear and I would get a bit of flavor. I would blow my nose a bunch hoping that it would clear up, but it did nothing. Needless to say, when I finally got a butterfinger (thank you Arwyn for putting that in my head) it was a complete let down.

diffuse the situation

Happy post halloween! Hope everyone had a fun and safe time. Feedyournerd celebrated together. Some bevs were had, some delicious Ribs, pork, and Jamaican jerk chicken was eaten, and games were played. All the jovial times were realized. Some of the games we played were snes mariokart, various games on the ps3 and boardgames like Channel A, Munchkjn, and Explosive Kittens. Greggles is an interesting game player. Sometimes he is really mellow and happy go type player. Other times, he can get pretty competitive and kind of spiteful. Greggles absolutely is the one who you never know what to expect.....
