Hey everyone! Welcome back! This week sees me finish building the forty boyz (giving me 30 shoota, 30 slugga) and start putting some paint down. I also got in a few test games with Shantz, and boy did we have fun! (love love love the CP mechanic!).
A shot from my crazy production. Let me tell you, the old boyz kits...oh the mouldlines are so awful. So awful! In fact, I actually injured my wrist from all the repetitive scraping and turning. (Don't try to clean 40 ork boyz in a row!) You'll also notice in the center, the waagh banner nob...which I have been trying to get forever. It is quite possibly one of the coolest orks in the GW line!
Shantz and I played a few test games, and really enjoyed it. First was a 1k vs 1k game to get an idea of how the new game worked. The terrain is some new LOS blockers I quickly sprayed from a printer box (and new mat!). You need a minimum of 4-5 LOS blockers in 8th, if not 6. We found 5 worked pretty well, as it made it difficult to concentrate all the forces down one side.
I of course got so excited that I teleported 30 shoota boyz to the other side of the board, which had them get immediately massacured by the dark eldar. Shantz won that game!
Second game I ran a new version of the walker list. It did extremely well. That game ended up as an ork win...but shantz was really hitting hard with those lances. Had he rolled a bit higher on the damage rolls, I would have been severely hurting. Also lobbas are insane. Buy some! Have another game scheduled for two weekends from now. Should be another blast!

Started on my classic ork technique with a few minor changes. Instead of just white primer, they are now primed grey, then sprayed white from above to create a bit more depth. Hard to see since I'm doing down angled shots, but its there!

The weird boy needed some more work (that gap was showing up too well even in primer), so he will be done in the next batch. I'm forcing myself to do 10 boyz before I'm allowed to do a character. Try to reward myself for doing the ork boyz! But now something to shock you!
New technique going into use! This was found out by Great Redoubt on twitter @GreatRedoubt. I originally stole the wash technique from daa waagh, and GR borrowed it from me, and put his own spin on it. He found by starting with a yellow tint, it makes the green tint wildly variable. Combined with the zenithal, it gives you absolutely amazing ork skin for almost no work at all. Plus if you play bad moonz, it makes the initial stages even easier!
