Welcome back to the overpowered ork dreadnought channel. I hope you all brought your teef with you. (for betting purposes of course). Todd from Sincain40k and I were able to play a second game (after the first one) continuing our Nova Open practice. Would the orks fair any better? Would Greg run out of tealight markers again? This time I'd be running a legal list. (Quick adjustment meant dropping the bikes, taking a mega armored warboss, and another dread (mega dread). This won't be my final list, as discussions with FW (they actually answer rules questions!) let me find out I can still run Zhardsnark with a dread mob, he just can't be leading it (no bikes as troops, and can't be warlord).

Welcome to the RUSTY DOME! It's rematch time, and a clash between bloggers! Todd from Sincain40k brings the new Craft World Eldar to face down the rusty walkers of doooooom (and explosions). Dreads would explode, explode, and explode some more! I hope you are ready for a Michael bay series of explosions ladies and gentlemen! But wait...there are two new dreads in the mob! That's right, greggles has been busy! Been on a building rampage lately. Lets see what I've finished up!
[Last week we saw the Imperial forces fully arrayed against the Eldar menace. Unfortunately, the Eldar kin did not deploy initially, causing confusion in the ranks of the Imperial war machine. When the Eldar kin did deploy, the Imperial commanders discovered that they had been lured into a trap. Not only had the Eldar kin hidden behind the blind barrage laid out by the Imperial supporting units, but were taken aback to find that a host of the gigantic Dreamwalkers had completed their encirclement and arrived behind the Imperial's strongest flank. Soon volleys of wraith weapons began to rend the cornerstone of the Imperials left flank, a gigantic Baneblade constructed of golden armor. Yet the Imperials had their own tricks to reveal]

(Challenge Accepted -G) Regarding our campaign thread, Assault on Pathos IV, we are still scheduled for a 4/11 effort to get Pt. II unleashed...except that last week, one of the team was informed that they were going to be scheduled out of town that day.
Wow! What a blur of a week. I guess not being imprisoned by the results of Snowmageddon Episode 29 helped a little bit. However, interfaces between the Real World (tm) and Toy World (tm) were pretty infrequent, fairly rushed and as a result, sometimes intense. The good news is that I feel like a made good progress towards our looming April 11th game, which is Part II of the Pathos IV narrative. Those of you with the "deer in the headlights" look can jump here real quick and get caught up. Go ahead, I'll wait till you get back. "Picture" day.
Everyone's favorite day at school, Not! Mom's always seemed to decide to give us haircuts to help us look all scholarly or something. In my case, I always had to wear "wingtips" to school, despite the fact that all the pics were from the shoulders up. As if I didn't already have enough problems being a nerd (because that was back before it was cool), now my Mom wanted me crank the Nerd dial to 13. Ok, the boss is back from his Las Vegas vacation, so I guess I need to do some work. Actually, while Greg was rubbing elbows with the near-famous intellectual elite of 40K, those of us left running the shop were getting real work done. Last weekend turned into a blizzard of activity focused on finishing all the sub-assemblies of the Wraithknight to the point where I could actually start painting this monster. Also I was staring at my desk and weird stuff started happening. More on that later. So with mighty (or not) airbrush in hand, I jumped out to the garage to get all the base colors done so that this week I could do all the charcoal shading. If you're new here, refer to this thread for the details: In the mean time, here's the post -paint-pre-construction stage.
This week's post is going to be a fair bit about works in progress. If you've been following our crazy little adventure, you'll know that we've just finished Part I of a three part narrative track featuring Apocalypse battles. The first part featured four players, each fielding 3,000 point armies. Part II will up the ante, each player committing to fielding 4,000 points as we look to mix things up a bit and expand the overall scope of the story.
In previous posts, I indicated that I was putting together a wraithknight, hence all the "giants" stuff. I'll just say this now, I knew they were bigger models, certainly not Titan sized, but I had no idea how big "big" was going to be. A wraithknight is freaking HUGE! Orks are constantly looking for a bigger, better fight. Especially onces jammed inside of walkers with nothing else to do. So I took the stompa and the crew over to sincain40k's for a Eldar vs Ork super bash! Little I did a know, Todd brought a big friend to introduce the Stompa too! More friendly LVO practice...and as you might guess, practice at enjoying yourself in all gaming situations! :) . I was also able to get some oranges on the gorkanaut. I couldn't get to the stompa in time (that will be for an tuesday post next week, with a case review!), but I was able to seal sixteen walkers when the temp was 50F+. All that is left is pinning a few models to bases, and travelling to Las Vegas!
Gazing out from his shadowed perch, Titus could see nothing but desolation. His view was filled with the image of a corrupted landscape bent down under the weight of a flaming sky, twisted by great funnels of energy ripping the ground like a raptors claws. Much like his time attached to the Artifact, his aimless wanderings through this forsaken land had taken on the timeless qualities of old myths and legends, save that he was the poor soul lost in this endless sojourn.
Of late, he had begun to look up to the skies, as if in search of an answer. *** The Eldar kin had some good phone calls this week, helping us focus on the next part of the narrative. For those who might be wondering what that narrative might be, please refer to the following link. Don't worry, I'll wait till you get back.
Wow, it's hard to imagine that the "big" game has been done for two weeks now. That means that for the next installment you would expect that I'd be busily painting away to get to my next 1000 points. But then, you'd be wrong. After finishing the write up, I just sat looking at my desk for several days. Sort of post-Olympic gold medal winner funk...except that I didn't go to the Olympics or win a gold medal. I just got the funk. It happens to everyone at some point. So after not getting anything put together or painted by using my mind (Eldar FAIL), I started thinking about next steps. Now, to help me get there, i.e. next 1000 points, I wanted to add something interesting to my list that would be fun, yet effective. I attempted to get a Lynx off of ebay, but the bidding on that exceeded my budget, so I had to wave bye-bye to that one. I would like to get one of those sometime as I love the model and I think it would be fun to play with. So, I finally resurrected Illic Nightspear from his Simple Green bath and got him primed again. The goal this go around would be to get him painted and sealed with something transparent. That grey primer I used last time seals very well, but is lacking in the transparency department.
[Last week we saw the full deployments of the combatants, climaxing in the Imperial forces countering a strong play by the Eldar kin around the device known as, "The Artifact".
