Welcome back friends! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday. It's a great time for us here at FYN, as this also marks our one year anniversary! Though I came down with a nasty illness the last week, I still was able to get some work done on Shantz xmas surprise, the Haemonculus!
This is far sturdier then you would think.
Since I last worked on the haemy, I decided to attach him to his base. This was mainly because I wanted to both give myself a good avenue to paint him, but also ensure I could use plastic glue to permently attach him to that base. There are few contact points, the cloak, the spine, the back foot...i used plastic glue on them all, and the result is that he does not budge. This model is not flimsy by any definition now!
This is "grey" Next I took his remaining component pieces, and attached them to pieces of cork, in prep for airbrush priming. I want to do a light base with him, and I hate the GW white primer, so I went with vallejo grey (which is really close to white).
Love the detail on this model. Next I started to block out sections which will be orange or metallic. Orange is one of the main colors Shantz uses for his dark eldar, and I'm trying to make the haemy look like it belongs in his army...just greged up :).

That is really purple! Next I decided to start working on the way I was going to do the flesh on the haemy. I remember reading that a purple wash, followed by rakarth flesh made a nice zombie type flesh, so I went to work.
Nice and zombie like! After the purple wash I was a bit worried, but got happy almost immediately when brushing the flesh on top.
Dat blend! I went back with some blends of lighter flesh tones to add a bit of highlight, then also practiced the blend of orange/yellow that Shantz likes on his weapons and armor. I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.

At that point, I got sick, and could no longer lower my head to paint at a table for the next five days. So this is all you guys get this week!
But in other news (besides being better now), tomorrow marks the 1 year anniversary of the day we started feed your nerd. It's been a great year, and we've done far better then I expected! You guys are great, and everyone has been wonderful and supportive!
