I'm back from LVO, and what an absolute blast I had. Fantastic games, great people, and super surprises! For those who don't want to read further, the ork walkers went 2-2, and I the Deff Dread took a Bronze, and the Killa kans got a Silver in the journeyman painting competition!!!! I'm currently working on going through the 700 or so photos I took, which will show up as a photo dump later this week! Then I've got battle reports from each of my battles, and a review on the case that took my entire army (checked on the plane), to and from LVO! Going to be a lot of posts, so hold on tight guys!
You are going to LOVE these bat reps.
Lets start with the last bits first...on the last day, I decided to follow the advice fellow bloggers have always given. Whether or not you feel you can win in a painting competition...always enter. It forces you to keep your game up, introduces you to fellow talent, and you will get direct and honest feedback from judges. So with that in mind, I was particularly happy with how my walkers had turned out after the powders, so I entered the deff dread and the killa kans as a squad...
I got a silver pin for the killa kans, and a bronze pin for the deff dread! (and 2nd in my catagories!). I was beaming with pride when I picked them up, expecting absolutely nothing. I mainly entered them because I always want to try, and wanted the awesome photos everyone always takes of your miniatures. ALWAYS ENTER PAINTING COMPETITIONS!

So unbelievably excited over this. I almost teared up a bit. I know its no crystal brush competition (and not even the masters), but I was so tickled to get anything at all. Here is more information on the placing and other competitors if you are interested! Click me for painting goodness!

Next up. The actual tournament. I went into this tournament expecting the orks to lose badly...I even bought tea light markers so that every battle would be hilarious fun! At any time during the tournament, you could glance at the table I was at, and get a great idea of just how many walkers had been wiped out due to the number of flashing tea lights. How many to be exact? Lets say I ran out of tea lights in some games! Here is a synopsis of my battles (longer reports in later posts, these are just teasers).
Round 1: Justin and Blood Angels Baal Strike Force (with DS action)
Round 2: Jeff and his Unbound Terminators!
The match up for friendly consisted of, turn around and shake someones hand, that is the person you play. It was that friendly. If you didn't want to play someone, you didn't have to, and everyone gravitated more towards the armies they thought would be fun to play against more then which armies they could win vs.
Justin's army consisted of a baal strike force, which rolled on the escalation warlord table to not scatter when deep striking next to the stompa (melta city!). I rolled on strategic and got the -1 to his reserve rolls. The game would be VERY close.

The killa kans got a 5.5 and a silver!
TH/SS Terminators hit REALLY REALLY REALLY hard.
Jeff and I went right for each other after finding out we basically had the same style list...his all infanty based (nearly all TH/SS terminators), mine all AV based in the same style. To call this a brutal slug fest was an understatement. At the end of this game, there was only 4 models left on the table.
Round 3: Jason and his Daemonic Walkers (And Greater Brass Pain)

This was my absolute favorite game of the entire event. It was kill points, I had 9, jason had 8, we both were unbound, we both had lords of war. We were both so excited to play each other, and Jason was a fantastic opponent.
Round 4: Steve's Daemon Summoning Orks vs Ork Walkers!
Poor deff dreads. Always exploding.
Steve actually lives in VA, so is really close to me! He had his two sons with him, who were his grots in training. We saw each others lists from day 1, and wanted a chance to fight ork vs ork (something that is a bit of a rarity these days). Since his list was involving weirdboyz and summoning, I was curious how it would all work out! (since that was my original nova idea!). Lets just say he got a bloodthirster on turn 1. Look for longer bat reps and more photos in later posts!
