Hey Guys! Sorry I've been so quiet lately. When an RPG grips me like pillars of eternity, I can't stop playing it till I beat it. When the game takes 40 hours to beat, you can see where this eats into a lot of free time! Well I beat it last night, immediately releasing it's grip on me, and allowing me to look at the pile of stuff I need to work on.
I am so disorganized right now!
One of the first things I dived into? The kromlech juggernaught warchief I got during their sale. Graven games did a review of him here, and since then, I've wanted one of my own. The idea of a proper sized warboss brings a smile to my face :).
I also did a bunch of work on the "bloggers recommend" link. Kinda of a collaboration of reviews I've found on everybodies blogs. I'll add to it as time goes on, and it's definitely a work in progress. (It's mainly for my own reference but I thought everyone else would enjoy it too!)
Back to the good stuff! The mega armored warboss! I didn't like the default heads kromlech shipped with the model, so I pulled out my tech freak heads from maxmini and poked around with what they might look like.
I started cleaning up the models flash, and pinning like crazy, and looked at my available heads. My favorite was the 3rd one, the sinister head. It just creeps me out how brutal he looks! My favorite part of this model is the size and scope of it. It dwarfs the normal warboss, and makes terminators seem tiny. It's basically the size of a killa kan!
Though his base looks larger then 40mm, it's actually the same size of the terminator and wraith bases. Just nicely angled for a really dynamic pose. I didn't take a lot of detail shots, as I was too excited and hadn't washed the model yet, so there is flash and some resin moulding still on him. After he gets primed and highlighted, I'll take some more shots. But this should give you a sense of the scale of him.
The one aspect I didn't like about this model was the power claw. Kromlech made the claw more like fingers, and it looks a bit weedy. I have thought about some replacement claws. What do you guys think? The second claw is from the FW event grot and runtbot model, the third is from a killa kan, and the fourth is from ghazzy himself. The FYN guys online have voted for ghazzy's claw.
Going to trim the ball joins some for a better fit...but holy crap I love this model.
Here is a nice beauty shot of the model in the foldio...I can't get over how awesome this model is. The combination with the maxmini head is just brutal. Absolutely brutal. This guy is ready to just tear his opponents apart. Anyway, short update while I try to get back into the hobby grove of things. I'll be back to posting on Wednesdays next week!
