Finally Spring!!! Thank you for letting me prime my models! I've forgotten what it was like to not wear three layers of clothing everyday! I do think I need to adjust my posting schedule...I feel like I'm rushing home just to paint for the blog...and everyone knows how time disappears when you're painting miniatures.
So got all the buildings primed...well spray painted. There wasn't anyway I was going to use 15 dollar bottles of chaos black primer, so I used two cans (that's how much it took) of krylon matte black.
I also picked up some dark grey, grey, and white tubes of acrylic paint from Michaels (20% off entire order coupon till Saturday!)

I setup to drybrush on the buildings, and was immediately met with disappointment. The actual tubes of acrylic paint are very wet, and i can't get a really good dry brush out of them. It comes out a horrible mess. I don't know if I need to add a mixture to the paint, or use a different paint.
I want to avoid using GW paints if possible, as I'd probably go through six pots just for dry brushing the buildings.
Any suggestions? Should I just fiddle with my airbrush instead?

Some of you may be confused as to why you are seeing a black templars ironclad here. I've been painting so many necrons lately, I've let my own army suffer a bit. (I'm a templars/orks player).
This is an ironclad model I painted when the new space marine codex came out. (Templars couldn't take ironclads previously).
The model has performed extremely well, so I took it upon myself to improve his paint job to reflect his excellent performance. (And see how how I've improved in 6 months)

So I went back and re-highlighted (with an additional layer) the entire dread. Washed the golds and metallics, and brought them back out with additional highlights. Absolutely covered him in purity seals, and tabards with scripts of his victories.
Also gave him some hunter killer missiles...they aren't that great in actual play, but he has earned through through slaying multiple warlords.

I'm looking for a suitable sized sword to place in the stone behind him. It will be piercing the the skulls of his slain enemies. I also think I might try swapping out the Templar crosses on his shoulders with the brass ones, so they don't look so tacked on.
