Welcome back my friends! Trying to get back into the habit of posting. Just a short update for you all today, as I'm slowly crunching along with the buildup of my #deathguard.
I look pretty ridiculous most of the time, as I am wearing the respirator to reduce the amount of fumes I breath in from all the plastic and super glue!
I'm happy to report I've finished all my mk3 squads. (Seven in each squad, with plasma rifle and melta bombs). The silver guys are stand ins, as I'm using FW bits (when they arrive) to spruce up the champions. They'll have the deathguard torso's and heads. All the shoulder plates are off, as I will paint them on the sprue all at once.
The nice thing about the kits is they give you two different bolter types. (one from betrayl, one from burning). So I've equipped some of the mark3 squads with the other bolter to add some variety. Sure the little hand doesn't have the two rivets, but if someone notices that, I'll dread sock them. Btw, the two piece backpacks are AWFUL.
Why is everything taking so long to build? Mouldlines. Mouldlines everywhere. Chief culprits are one of each of the legs (straight down the middle), the heads (straight down the middle), and the bolters. Gets a bit exhausting when you work for hours and barely finish a squad! It also appears that I have two different grades of plastic among the mark 3 armor. Some appears to be "SD plastic" bit fuzzy and lighter in tone. Rest looks like normal GW plastic. Hoping it doesn't look too different once painted up, as there really isn't much to the armor details besides the rivets.
Started on the terminators as well. Needed a break before I started the mk4 havocs. (18 of those to do!). I of course got excited and glued the shoulder plates on the terminator...oh well. These were meant mainly as stand ins, as I'm getting some warden deathguard terminators to use with the army.
AAaaalmost got the perfect list with typhus. Ended up with 6 terminators. But 7 units of 7 marines. A unit of 7 bikes, and 6 terminators with typhus...so close! I can drop typhus and replace him with a termi-sorcerer, and that lets me get the 7th terminator...but typhus seems like he'd be more of a bullet magnet.
