The yearly painting contest on bolterandchainsword has begun! Every year each subsection of the forum pledges to paint a particular amount of points for their faction. I'm painting for black templars, and my first vow is around 560 points of units.
My vow consists of...
Storm Talon (typhoon missiles) [145]
8x Sniper scouts with camo cloaks
1x camo cloak heavy bolter with hellfire rounds
1x Vet Sniper sarge with camo cloak [162]
Master of the Forge with Digital Weapons and Power Axe [115]
Hunter [70]
Stalker [75]
When i finish this vow, I can make another. If I fail to complete the vow, I have to wear a badge of dishonor on the forums, and the points are removed from the Templars total. It's a fun competition, and everyone really gets into it. I got a little carried away and put a sword in my vow, so everyone started putting maces, and light sabers in theirs. So much fun. Highly recommend it (it goes on till august 1st), if you need a bit of friendly competition to get painting!

I finished priming the techmarine and hunter/stalker, and started painting all the bases immediately. I use a few stone/marble type colors, and three layers of brown, followed by washes to get this particular look, then finish with some grass tuffs. It's fun to paint, and looks great with the templars standing tall on the bases from Jeff @ dragonforge design.
No fancy image this week. You are getting the raw shots of my painting table in its absolutely messiest form. I'm still deciding on how to paint the master of the forge. I think I'm going to do black armor, with red/orange highlights on him. So a bit of templar and a bit of mars. We'll see!

Because you guys are awesome, here is something I actually completed earlier in the week. It's the comms relay tower. It came out pretty good. It makes a great relic to try and capture.
