One thing I really don't like about shoota boyz is how similar they all look. Basically clones of each other.
Welcome back my friends! This week I played a few 8th games. Painted the boyz, and worked on my 8th edition list for Nova! So to start off, here is one of the guys finished. Might go back at some point and work on the teeth, but yellowed teeth look perfectly fine on the orks! Some more shots of the shoota boy. The pants didn't darken as much as I thought they would, but still are looking pretty good, so I'm leaving them as is for now. Possibly the next squad (of 30) will have darker or different colored pants to help them stand out more. The other boyz are all at the metallics stage, which is a bit slower then the other stages (as i have to be careful not to get metallics on all the nicely washed bits. So I'm doing a few a day right now. Lot more boyz this edition. This list did pretty well, but I actually think I'll end up running even more boyz. The units of 30 are quite hardy, and really help protect the larger deads from nasty things like smite, or strong CC units. Of course the choppa boyz were always out of range (since they are a screen, they can't run up), so that means I need even more shoota boyz. (FYI, dread mob 2-0 so far!) One thing I really don't like about shoota boyz is how similar they all look. Basically clones of each other. I didn't want to re scrape mouldlines on two arms...so I did what I did a few editions ago. Choppa up some gunz and glue them together! (then trim the CC weapon down to make a fist). Looks pretty awesome! And that is some serious dakka! Then those boyz got primed up. They'll be next in the queue. (decided to redo all my boyz, as the new ones look sooo much nicer then the old ones! (go figure). Last but not least, rearming the gorkanaut into a morkanaut. So doing some light glows on the weapons before I wash them...probably did this way out of order....but hey, its orks! Can also see my painting holder kickstarter finally arrived. Haven't had a chance to use them yet, due to the batch painting style! Hope everyone is having a great hobby time!
