Foldio Birthday Review, Paint Booth, and Ork Dreads!!!

Foldio Review!

Starting off...one of the first things I got for my bday was the Double LED Foldio!  It's basically a portable lightbox, but very well made, and wonderful to use and take photos through.  As time goes on I slowly replace my old jury rig solutions with actual ones.  I'm hoping this lets me present better photos of everything I create!  I've written a little review here, (you can also click the image or title), if you'd like to know more!

They are also doing a kickstarter for the second generation foldio...check it out here, it's got 2 days remaining if you are interested!
I love Ork walkers.  If this was not apparent from the multitude of posts on the subject, then it should be now!  This past week it was my birthday, so I got a great number of most excellent presents, some of which will help me to obtain my painting goals!  I also found out that weebly has finally integrated disqus commenting, so I updated it.  This has one very horrifically sad effect (deleting hundreds of comments), but should hopefully enable easier commenting in the future.  If you hate disqus, please let me know!

You'll start seeing all my models get photographed in this glorious device.  It makes an AWESOME difference and really showcases the models.  And speaking of models, I got a lot more work done on the walkers!
So for those of you who don't know, I have a garage.  However my garage has a giant gaping hole in the door, and it just lets cold air in like crazy.  As such it's not much better then spraying outside.  However a few purchases (a large radiator, some seals, and a paint booth) have made it possible for me to keep the temp around the model area in the 60's (15.5C) as long as the outside temp isn't below 30F (-1C).
Item's in use (and possibly future reviews).
A TCP Paint Booth with Vent and Lights (choose lighted)
DeLonghi EW7507EB Oil Filled Radiator Heater

Please if you are interested in these products, use camelcamelcamel.  Their prices vary wildly, and it's important to keep an eye on them and not be ripped off.  In the past week that radiator has gone from 65 to 125!

Anyway, back to the task at hand!  I will eventually review the booth when I have more time with it, but for now, you can enjoy the fact I can paint and practice!  (Keep in mind, even though I am venting fumes, I am still wearing a respirator, the venting is more for the house and garage then my breathing)

I went on a spree.  I got the gorkanaut shaded, the mega dread, the deff dread, and even three killa kans.  Along the process I fishhooked my airbrush needle.  Fishhooking is when you bend the tip, because you don't know what you are doing, and shove the needle back in the airbrush after you clean it, like an ork.  It'll still spray with a fishhook end, but it clogs MUCH more frequently.
So wondering how that folio is doing?  Well these were the photos in my garage.  I wonder how they look in the foldio....
How is that for some magic?  That lightbox is amazing!!!!!  But that isn't all folks...I have been spraying every moment I can.  Trying to get everything to at least some semblance of uniformity, so I can not be embarrassed when the army is brought out at LVO!

The guy in the back is totally falling over
This is just the first layer of brown. Battlefield brown from P3, thinned with water, with 3-4 drops of rust wash added for some more orange tone. I am going through each walker group and making sure they are all at the same stage before advancing it, so things stay pretty much uniform.  I'm quite pleased with the effect the shading has had on the models.

Hrnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng
This guy just looks so fantastic I can't even.  I put him in the light box and it was like someone just sprinkled magical warp energies all over him.  He's just oozing awesome, and he's only at stage 3 out of 14.  (Lets count these..primer, grey primer, brown, light brown, purple, orange, salt, yellow, yellow, metallics, wash, scrub off salt, details and weathering).  I didn't have time to get any more brown on the last two (deff dread and gorkanaut).  Hoping to do those on Wednesday afternoon.  By then my replacement needles should come, and I can move onto the lighter colors with more control and less clogging!

Bonus time! If you didn't check out theFoldio review, you might have missed some of the cool 360's I put up there.  Well here is a bonus one for those who can't be bothered to read about cool products that fold into boxes and rectangles!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by guys.  I hope you enjoyed this weeks post.  I hope to have all the walkers sprayed up with both layers of brown (and hopefully some purple and orange) by next week, just in time to start their salt baths!!!  Until next time!

Extra secret bonus! Shantz did a comic about me painting his haemy.  This is pretty much exactly what happened, so it's pretty hilarious. :)
