Hey guys! Hope you all had a good weekend. I know most of the buzz was about the Space Wolf codex, and the Grey Knight leaks. I hope it's excited you all...if not, don't fret. I'm hoping it'll all make sense once all the codexes receive the same level of "re balancing." I just wish they could figure out a way to do this a bit more globally, instead of slow piece meals. Maybe some day!
In the meantime, I had a pretty long weekend. Went to the zoo, saw some animals, got a little drunk, ate some Maryland blue crabs. All in all a pretty good weekend. This however didn't leave much time for painting.
I did get a chance to finally prime the mega dread...which is much harder then it seems. It's a ton of separate parts, and getting them all primed up was a combination of imperial primer, and chaos black spray.

But that's not all! I also was able to purchase a forge world ork warboss biker from ebay! An actual forgeworld one! I've been trying to get one for ages... Read on to find out more! (Or click dat link thingy)
When forgeworld first released the ork warboss on a bike sculpt, I was amazed. It was absolutely fantstic. Such detail on such an awesome bike. I had to have one. Only they have always been recasts, or expensive shipping from europe. But not any more!
Having been working on the mega dread, I'm pretty sure it's a recast now...either that, or there is a world of difference in the resin quality between these two models. The warboss is not brittle at all, and very hefty. Seems durable and unlikely to easily break. Definitely not the standard feel I get working with finecast or the mega dread!

I was really happy the owner used tiny dabs of super glue to put him on his base and bike, as I was easily able to get him into three seperate sections without using much force (or breaking anything). The base is currently brown because I like to do the bases first to inspire me. It was getting late (I try to pre load these posts the night before), so I just had time to put one coat down.
One thing about this model that struck me immediately...it is HUGE. This guy looks like a proper warboss on a bike. Sporting his T6, powerclaw, and just looking absolutely brutal. If you can't tell from the paint pots above, I took some other photos to give you an idea of just how big this model is.
Sometimes seeing a model in person is really the only way to really enjoy and understand it...and this is one of those models. I am extremely excited to paint him, and hope I can do him, and the mega dread, propa justice :).
I'm hoping to have his, and the mega dreads base, done by the Thursday post...and hopefully at least some starting paint on the mega dread. That is at least my goal for the week. We'll see how far I get :).
