I settled with violet as a really nice contrast for the lower layers. I think I'm going to strip him, and repainting him a few times until I get it right.
I was playing a bit with the cooler colors on the weapons, you can really see how the shading and mixing of colors really starts to make things just look...right. (for better lack of terminology).
I used a whole slew of powders this time, using them in various layers, trying dusting, brushing, you name it. At this point...wow this base is starting to look pretty awesome. The ard coat bits shine through randomly, like quartz in rock.
And then...then it happened. Magic. Absolute magic. I can't even describe how awesome the base looks after it's been fixed. It's just...it looks like a texture painting.
The whole base just glints and reacts to light in a fantastic way, with parts being dulled by the powders, some shining through from the ard coat...it's just magic. Needless to say, I was pretty freaking giddy.
I mean the blues...look what the blues did...all the washes and powers...it looks like a rock eating a metal grate. I made a video. I'm not sorry.
I don't know how to do that, so I took water effects, some bloodletter glaze, some red wash, and some blood technical paint, and mixed it all together into goo.
