I bring dire news in regards to the events associated with our most recent intervention. This effort was coordinated with Inquisitorial assets, of which I shall speak upon later.
This was a most disturbing set of circumstance and I must profess that there is something of dark significance transpiring on the planet Persephone (Imperial Galactic Reference: PX1019-238-003-2747). Although we were led to believe that heretical elements of a recently surfaced cult were believed to have triggered several dangerous psychic episodes, in fact, our research and reconnaissance indicates that just the opposite is taking place.
As you are aware, every human population registers a certain level of subconscious psychic activity and it is a phenomenon that we are cognizant of and watch with extreme diligence. We know that each population represents a nurturing environment, fertile with psychic potential, pregnant with demonic possibilities.
Yet not here.
In fact, the levels of ambient psychic noise are so low that one could almost suppose that by some unknown mechanism, psychic latency has been removed or suppressed. Although we should welcome this condition, we know that is not how the universe operates and that something truly disturbing is taking place.
And so, when our planetary "support" advocates heavily for direct action by our Brotherhood, we assume that it means there are tangible targets for us to direct our efforts against.
That is not what is taking place.
To kick off the operation, we teleported directly into the area of operations. We immediately began to experience high volumes of hostile fire. We are prepared to expect this. What we were not prepared for was the accuracy of the heavy firepower as displayed by the enemy. We experienced a fearful toll upon our brothers despite the strong intervention of Nemesis assets. In addition, for such a supposedly safe psychic environment for us to operate in, we continually ran into issues associated with many of our strongest battle invocations. Many individuals were able to enhance their personal characteristics, but coordinating psychic efforts among our brothers to improve our ability to attack seemed to be beyond our skills. We even lost teleport coordinates with one of the Nemesis assets that caused an extreme drift nearly out of the battle area. Why these strange events took place is still under analysis. However, I am certain of one thing.
There is something very wrong with this planet.
I also must take issue with the description of the enemy as described by our esteemed Inquisitorial allies. We were not only assaulted on all sides by extremely effective heavy artillery, but many of the opponent's weaponry were enhanced with highly toxic renditions of standard munitions. We also experienced the manifestation of Ogryn-sized battle units, enhanced with all manner of prosthetic close combat weapons, again strengthened with toxic substances.
The nature of our enemy is not something we have encountered before. I strongly recommend that we demand battlefield support from the Adeptus Mechanicum. There is something here, something intangible, that feels more akin to their perspective than ours.
And now, let me speak of our "allies".
There is some other game in play. We have expended a significant effort in due diligence to determine what is actually transpiring on this planet. We have seen nothing that would indicate a presence that we would normally address.
The "artifact" that was recently discovered by Inquisitorial forces, then lost by those same forces in an as yet unexplained manner, resulted in the complete loss of a Titan brotherhood. How can this incompetence be countenanced?
Our allies seem to know something that is being withheld. Given their typical paranoid perspective on every aspect of the Imperium, some level of secrecy is to be expected.
However, their secrecy has become dangerous to us. As if that isn't enough, their resources experienced heavy fire, as we all did, but chose to retire off the battlefield.
Secrecy and cowardice are a poisonous combination that cannot be tolerated any longer.
