That's it for this week folks! Will hopefully have primer and paint on the grots by next week! Have a wonderful weekend!
Greetings my plastic addicted friends! Welcome back to another week of Greg making excuses for not posting updates on Thursday! Don't worry, this week I actually did some hobby! So as I was working on the grots for the Nova Open Charity, I realized something...i can't see mouldlines for crap. So I invested in a pair of magical ocular devices. Now I can see every mouldline from here to the eye of terror! So many mouldlines...I think I got the worst batch of grots GW has ever created. At least a good few hours just scraping the crap outta everything. But they are done, and finally ready for primer and paint. I even pinned all 11 of them (to their bases). Let me tell you...I am not pinning grots to bases ever again. Boy are their feet tiny. But I tend to have a thought in my head...this is for someone else, so I want everything to be +++++. Not much new work on the deff dread, other then getting all the components parts ready for assembly. I'm waiting on a group of magnets I ordered over a week ago to show up. I wanted to green stuff mounts for the rear jet packs so they could be removed for transport, and to make painting a bit easier...of course I wanted to do this properly, so wanted to reinforce the magnets from behind with greenstuff...so I couldn't assemble the body until this was done. I'm also still trying to figure out how to mount him on the base. No good ideas yet. I also took this time to clean up and pin big mek buzzgob and his crew together. What an awesome model. He's a giant big mek (warboss sized for sure). He barely fits on a 40mm base. And the grots are so character filled. I can't wait to add him to the dread mob. Yes, that is one of my house pipes! The house pipes are 39.4 years old...and they are rated for 40 years. So over the next week or so, the plumbers are replacing every single pipe, connector, and hose bib. Oh boy. At least the weathering looks AWESOME! Last but not least, I picked up a backdrop from Hanger18 Miniatures. It is AWESOME. I had to do a bit of trimming, but I'm already amazed at the difference it's made vs the standard solid color ones from foldio. These photos are uncorrected, and with only the default top two foldio lighting. The happiest part of this (besides the mini's looking cool), is that the white balance is actually working really well now. These are pretty much the colors I painted my models in! Finally! That's it for this week folks! Will hopefully have primer and paint on the grots by next week! Have a wonderful weekend!
