Welcome to Weathering, with your Host Rusty Greggles! This week was a flurry of activity on tiny sections of the dreads base, and his little grot controller Francis. First just your standard metallics. Bunch of leadbelcher everywhere, being careful to leave some areas which are still dirt. (you'll see why in a bit). Little guy coming along well. He's quite the character. Look at how happy he is. Wouldn't you be happy if you had a giant remote controlled dreadnought? I think I would... at least for awhile! Army painter dark tone (old badab black), followed by splotches of runefang steel. I think created a mix of green and blue washes, and applied to the drop pod `wing, as I was trying to get a somewhat worn effect of either an alpha legion drop pod, or the opposing side marines for the charity. It somewhat worked, but didn't look the way I wanted it to. On the rhino top, I tried to do some white dry brushing, which looked awful, so I covered it all up with concrete wash. Tabard, pants, skin, and leather done. Starting the metallics. That's the careful section...though outside of the headphones, there isn't too much to worry about with this guy. You might wonder why the remote is a voice contoller and he's wearing headphones...well obviously the dread is voice controlled! Ready for the fun stuff? All the AK crusted metallics, some AK fuel stain, GW Nihilakh oxide. Dark/strong tone army painter. Secret weapon powders. (violet mainly). Watch as I work my way across the image, piece by piece. All that dirt suddenly creates magic as it captures the powders and locks them down. Creating this wonderful crusty bubbling effect of the rust. I tried to think of how the rust would runoff and adjust accordingly. Had a TON of fun doing this. I made my own secret weapon wash using violet and amethyst, which helped tone the darker rust really well. Watch how the drop pod fin transforms. And now some tonal corrected images (about what it actually looks like). Next up is the rocks, and that cylinder on the right. Really happy with how these are turning out, as the multi-layered colors and detail are just weathertastic! Rory was wondering where the grot was, so here is about his location on the base. He'll be adjusted a bit to adjust the composition. His feet and pants will also get powders on them, to integrate into the base a bit more, and a lot of the brightness of him will be dulled by soot, as the dread is constantly leaping over him, then he runs in front, the dread leaps, etc etc. :) Gotta do something about that rock though. It looks so clean. Hope you all enjoyed this update!
