Welcome my friends! Bit of a shorter post this week. Had a slew of wedding stuff lately, so time has been a bit restricted! I was able to get working on the enamels, and get some lovely close up shots for you all. I also had some fun working on the renegade ork knights, and coming up with ideas to flush them out.
So first off, started with the powders, enamels, and washes. Also got some closer up shots, so everyone can see how deep the chipping detail is. It never really shows up that well at a distance, but boy oh boy is it awesome when you are seeing it in person!

The back shot is to show my progress as I work across the model. Note the right side is very similar in tones across the model. While the left has a lot of oranges and various degrees of color shifts. That's the enamels and washes at work. I'm planning on going a bit further with some green/blue enamels. We'll see how that works out. I also need to scrape the yellow off the engines...i should have taped them. Oh well!
On the knights, I've been having some fun. Not actually building the double gun one, but boy does that look hilariously fun. Mainly been working on how to get a claw instead of the thunderstrike gauntlet. Finally got it working out, and it looks awesome, and quite to scale. I also sourced some armour plates for the shoulders.
The idea is (gulp) I'm going to slice the center armor panel along the lines the knife is pointing at. I'm terrified to do this, so building up the courage to do so. This will leave an open gap (exposed section) between the central and shoulder plates, which will help break up the knight look from above and make it a lot more orky. I just gave to cut these now. Forgive me Tibbs!
(Note: I actually experimented with swapping out a renegade knight so I could take more ork walkers instead....just to get an idea of how under costed these things are...the renegade knight is FIFTY points cheaper then the meka + mega dread...sigh)
