Hey my friends! Short little battle report for you today. I was able to play a few games with my good friend Scott from brushwizard on an amazing table, so snagged a few photos for you all to enjoy. If you just want to see the photos in their full res (well half res, as I always cut the camera res in half before I upload, else it takes forever), just visit the imgur link below. Otherwise just browse the photos while I ramble on about things. Each side was 1500 points, as we brought 1500 armies for the friendly. (We didn't match up during the friendly though!). We lucked out as all the 40k pickup tables were taken, so the 30k crew were nice enough to let us use one of their awesome tables. (It's good to know people!). My list was basically a Gork, a Mork, A Meka Dread, Three Killa Kans, Three Buggies, Zhardsnark, and A big Mek on a bike. That's it. :) Scott's list was punchy robots, shooty robots, chicken robots, and crawly robots + stuff. We used the 40k open war cards for the objective and the deployment. Deployment was two diamonds touching in the center. Objectives was ammo cache (roll d6 for objectives, remove if no 6 rolled, last one is the ammo cache). I explained to scott what the big ork walkers did. Scott decided to deploy his robots as a speed bump. Orks went first. Scott failed to seize. Let it be known that I have never had the dreadmob at full strength into combat this quickly. Everything is usually damaged, or down a tier by the time it starts inflicting damage. The result was....disastrous for Scott's forces. I ate through 50% of his army in a single phase. We played through one more turn. The buggies came on, and basically the admec weren't having any fun. We called it. Scott learned "not" to deploy directly in front of a full strength dread mob. (Btw his army is absolutely GORGEOUS). It also turned out I was sitting on the ammo cache. Not Scott's game! We reset at the bottom of 2 for something more fun. For Game 2, Scott drew the "ambush card" where one player deploys in the center, and the other player deploys on the outskirts of the board. We decided to go full narrative, and had the orks (which had just defeated the ad-mec force) get ambushed by a nearby force which was taking revenge on their fallen brethren. I went full narrative and positioned the orks in a circle protecting the warboss, and choose this deployment, and to go second. The objective was warlord slaying, and points by PL destroyed (with warlord worth 2x PL). Scott decided to deploy "slightly" farther away this time. His first turns consisted of pummeling the orks with everything he had. The T8/T7 and KFFs shrugging off lots of of the damage. But quickly taking them down some tiers. Scott also used his snipers extremely effectively this game, taking wounds off the warboss and big mek at an alarming rate. The orks continued chewing through the admec, trying to get to that juicy warlord. But then the wound started popping off the walkers. A gork went down, the meka dread was about to blow, and the warboss went down. Admec had the win firmly in their grasp, and I was out-ranged by the units on the other side of the board. Because we were both hungry, we called it at that point as an Admec win! Hope you enjoyed this little bat rep. We were mainly just enjoying each others armies, so not a lot of tactical discussion/gaming. More just fun dice throwing and chatting. Will have a few bat reps from the friendly tournament later this week. Talk to you all soon!
