Welcome my friends. It's been another crazy week in the mek shop, with boyz being finished off left and right...and then another dozen being thrown back on the table to paint. Never ending waagh for sure! First up, this is a shot of the finished boyz, just to let everyone know I'm just not rephotographing the same ten boyz over and over again :). Today you'll see the finished photos of around thirty boyz (now that they have been varnished, highlighted, and powdered), what I'm currently working on, and some happy surprises! First up, the custom shoota boyz squad. (custom cause they aren't being boring holding the guns in front of their chest). There is one missing here, because I miss counted, so I'll have to paint up one more. (two groups of 9 + nob). The nob from that group! (Note, if I have time, I have tufts to add to the bases, but trying to get the army finished first!) All the choppa boyz! (Actually 22 I think). I forgot to snap the fronts of one of the groups. They start looking very similar after awhile! Second Nob. Really happy with this guy. I had him painted red (badly) in a box somewhere. Stripped him, and repainted. Came out great and looks fantastic leading the mob! (I actually want some more of the gork nobz now, such character!) Back on the work bench, I decided to try matching the skin tones of the old ork HQ's, with the new method, hoping I didn't have to strip them. I was hoping that maybe the yellow glaze would match close enough, that I wouldn't need to strip resin (which never seems to be a quick process). Luckily, just adding the yellow after the green produced the same wonderful vibrant lime color! Such a drastic change, and they match perfectly! (Though with slightly less quality, as these were not zenithal highlighted, and the boyz were!). Shot of me slowly working the metallic highlights in. I thought this would be quick, but it takes a few minutes per boy, and there are a ton of boyz. The end result is fantastic though. The vallejo alumnium air is so bright, it makes the surrounding metal look really dark, exactly what I wanted! (Plus in a group, the light catches on all the weapon edges and it looks bad ass!). I converted up a second weirdboy, using the savage orruk boss as a template. (Really just changed his axe into a wicked staff). Boy this is one beefcake weirdboy. Got the second battlewagon build, primed, and base coated. (still waiting for the deff rolla upgrade sprues to come in!). And here is the current work bench. It seems like I'm getting somewhere, but there is always more! (Actually just about 6-7 more boyz after this and I'm done). Hope you enjoyed the flurry of activity! Nova is just a few weeks away! We can do it! Also on that note, Nova is going to be using the new matched play rules that GW just posted! Troop choices become Obj sec, flyers can't hold objectives, and no more auto go first! Woo hoo!
