Note: There are a lot of photos here, because Dave is an AWESOME guy, and his army is a beaut!
Daves first firing round wasn't bad, but 75% of his stuff wasn't on the table yet!
Do you like walkers exploding en masse? Screams of poor grots who only wanted to help weed the taus garden? Then you are going to love this post! Today I revisit the battle between the all suit Tau army (Dave's), and the all walker army, Greggles. So who thinks Walkers are better then MC's? :) First off, the armies. You all know my walker army. Dave's army consisted of two storm surges, two riptides, a stealth guy that is impossible to kill, broadsides, and a ton of crisis suits. Most of his assets deep strike in, so it makes it quite difficult for me to position to engage him. He also out ranges me, out moves me, and out shoots me. (and out obj sec's me) Should be fun! (vanguard strike deployment!) Note: There are a lot of photos here, because Dave is an AWESOME guy, and his army is a beaut! For purposes of this battle report, and the remainder ones...this will be more a commentary then a side by side blows. This was last sept, and I am usually drinking while playing, so I am a bit hazy. I'm an ork player though, so our objectives are always secret and fun...in this case, I knew I was going to have trouble winning, so I just made it my goal to kill one stormsurge :) Daves first firing round wasn't bad, but 75% of his stuff wasn't on the table yet! For the first turn, I held everything back, to give Dave limited avenues to drop his suits. Luckily not everything came in, and I was able to deal horrific damage to the crisis suits on my ensuing turn 2. It turns out they really hate rokkit's. Most of my turn 2 was spent moving forward, and weathering the fire from all the melta and stormsurges. The knights took 90% of the brunt of the attacks, with their shields trying to hold back the onslaught. I decided to run my grot knight, and rolled a 6, getting right up in the storms face! The pressure is on, and dave unloads everything he can on me. My gambit with the knight fails, and he D's it in the back, blowing it sky high (oh oh). The rest of the suits unleash hell, and blow up a few walkers and take off some more shields on the remaining knight. Greggles revenge is at hand! Everything charges. The walkers charge, the knights charge, I charge dan and knock him over. It's a great time. The point of the walker list becomes readily apparent once they get into close combat, and the entire army is basically str 10 ap2 for everything...and D3 hammer of wraths per walker! Needless to say, many crisis suits die. The riptide however does not, because I totally whiff. Many walkers die. (including the second knight!) I start running out of smoke markers! I get the riptide though, and wipe out the commander and all the crisis suits. Dave's ability to "assault jump", means it is impossible for me to ever catch the stealth drone guy. He just fires, then hops back over the wall. I have to try to walk around, in which case he just hops back. Great use of terrain by dave! I decide that the stormsurge MUST die. The rage has taken the big mek, and he wants nothing more then to see it burn. I throw EVERYTHING at it. Deff dreads, gorkanauts...even The bravest killa kan. RIP Bravest Killa kan. A deff dread gets immobilized. Only one dread remains, an undamaged gorkanaut, sitting in ruins. Can I make all the saves???? The game ends on turn 6. The big mek and his VIP client are saved. I am not tabled and take home a few points! WOO HOO!!!! Pretty proud of the dead pile on daves corner as well :). But this isn't the last bout with Dave. What will happen the next time our faces clash??? You'll have to wait to find out! Thanks for reading!
