It's been a long journey, but I'm finally here guys! I painted right up to the last minute, and had to start making cutting room floor decisions. As anyone who has painted orks before knows, even a small model can have endless levels of details!
This update will be a bit shorter, as I only brought half my files with me, but I promise to make it up to you guys with endless Nova photos! Thought I'd try something new and show you the end product first, then talk about everything :)
So since we last talked, I worked on a number of things.
First I setup the actual cart itself, making sure everything fit snuggly, and installed the lights under the top shelf, so the middle shelf wasn't in shadow. Worked out far better then I had hoped!
I cleaned, built, sprayed, and chipped the final deff dread, the canopy, and the mega nobz (after a hellish taping session).
The mega nobz came out really good. I fought them for so long, and eventually just gave up and spent a good hour or taping them up so I could use the chipping method on them. It worked wonderfully!
I spent my remaining time adding metallics to the dreads (and washing them down) [got through everything but kans], making sure wargear was all correct. Finishing Shantz haemy so he could use him (quick job), and making a competition stand for my dakkajet!
Last but not least...a few people have been asking me how I figured out what I was doing...let me introduce you to the greggles test tank. Every wash, powder, texture paint, and chipping fluid went on this thing. It used the same scheme as all the dreads (two browns/ryza + two yellows), so that I could see exactly how things would work.
For you Jeff, on the right side is the vallejo chipping fluid. On the left side is the AK worn fluid. You can see the line where it splits pretty easily!
