That is my crazy busy week for right now! Hope everyone is having a grand old time with 8th and their hobbying!
Welcome my friends to another orky Thursday. Where almost every brush stroke ends up on an ork. The tide is endless! First off...these are my OLD orks. I ripped them off their old 25mm bases, made some new 32mm bases with texture paste, and rebased the lot of them. (This is my fail safe if I can't finish the new orks in time for nova...and to try playing with 90 orks). I used my magic brush to do this, (see photo 1 :) ) and used vallejo red oxide paste. Using Vallejo black lava paste for some praetorian bases for Macathu. Mainly wanted to do some bases to match the tones of the other orks (and fit the same scale) without spending more $$ on resin bases. Next up, I repainted the crew of the "morkanaut" to match the colors and tones of the new infantry mobs. So much more vibrant now! I'm also planning on going back and washing all the armor plates of the walkers, adding blue/green weathering into the larger rust spots, and redoing the lenses. (We'll see how time goes). Finished a few more shoota boyz in the second batch. Looks like I can do about 10 a week + a character in total. So I'll definitely have one group of 30 done! (laughs to himself) Been working on mad doc as well. Trying to give some dis-colorization around his staples, so lots of glazing on him. First big choppa nob about done. Need to add some additional contrast in the front (either with a checker pattern on that shoulder, or maybe just bronzing it up). Really really happy with his skin though. It is just phenomenal. (also need to weather the yellow on the big choppa). None of these are final shots as everything still needs to be varnished, then powders and highlights. (varnish REALLY darkens the metal when it takes out the sheen) Last but not least, my lobbas from poland arrive. Really happy with them. Quite inexpensive (about 14 a lobba, so three for less then a mek gun kit) and look heaps better then the old GW metal models. I did a quick base on the guns (not even washed yet) and I'll be doing the ork armor plates for the front guards...though I do kinda of like them without the guards as well! That is my crazy busy week for right now! Hope everyone is having a grand old time with 8th and their hobbying!
