Greetings everyone! I took around 700 photos while I was at the LVO. Anytime I got, I was running around with my monopod (large selfie stick as pointed out by one gentleman), snapping photos of games, armies, you name it. Time was so limited, that I could barely spend more then a few seconds at each table (256+ players!) before moving onto the next. If you are not in here, I'm sorry, as I tried to get everyone (watch out for part 2!) This post is primarily dealing with "army" shots. That is an army laid out for display, or in a non gaming setup. I apologize if the photo is of your army not setup the way you wanted. Time was critical in these photos, so sometimes they might not be your army at it's best. I think all the armies are beautiful though, and want to showcase them to all that are interested! These were tak

I'm back from LVO, and what an absolute blast I had. Fantastic games, great people, and super surprises! For those who don't want to read further, the ork walkers went 2-2, and I the Deff Dread took a Bronze, and the Killa kans got a Silver in the journeyman painting competition!!!! I'm currently working on going through the 700 or so photos I took, which will show up as a photo dump later this week! Then I've got battle reports from each of my battles, and a review on the case that took my entire army (checked on the plane), to and from LVO! Going to be a lot of posts, so hold on tight guys! Lets start with the last bits first...on the last day, I decided to follow the advice fellow bloggers have always given. Whether or not you feel you can win in a painting competition...always enter. It forces you to keep your game up, introduces you to fellow talent, and you will get direct and honest feedback from judges. So with that in mind, I was particularly happy with how my walkers had turned out after the powders, so I entered the deff dread and the killa kans as a squad...
This is the list! I've picked the list apart, I've chatted with friends, bloggers (thanks Dan!), and the ork forums. This is what I've come up with. It won't win any prizes (except maybe a pretty good looking prize hopefully), but it should be amazingly fun to play. So join me on the great journey of building an army for tournament play (LVO, BAO, NOVA, Adepticon, Narrative)
Hey guys! Welcome to the blog (if you are new here!). Been a wild weekend since we got featured on faeit 212 and then it comes to monday, and Dave over at 40k addicts featured a post about the blog that literary brought tears to my eyes. I didn't really have much to talk about this monday (after doing one post every day last week), but thought I should at least say a thanks, and talk about upcoming things I'll be working on. Hot on the heels of NOVA, I've gone ahead and booked a room at the LVO in las vegas, run by frontline gaming. Figure that way I'll get a taste of the east and west coast tournament scene. I'm still waiting on the types of events going on (tournament wise), but hope to bring an Ork list. It's ork walkers, because there wasn't enough of those at Nova. (but quite a few green tides!)
Here we are at the end my friends. The end of the photos I took of Nova. All in all it was more then I ever imagined I took. The power of digital technology! Each batch has gotten progressively larger as I relaxed what I thought what be a decent one to post...and this one is a doozy. This includes all my remaining photos from Friday. Army shots, action shots, close ups, cell phone snaps. It's all here! If I missed capturing your army, I apologize. I tried my best to get every one. Some people where only there for one day, some left early, and some just were always in a state of movement by the time I got to them. (I got desperate at the end and started snapping photos in boxes!).
Either way, I hope you all had as much fun at Nova Open as I did, and I hope you enjoy all the photos. As before, if you are visiting just the blog, click read more to see the other 90 photos! At this point, you'd think I'd be running out of photos. What you may not realize, is all the photos I have posted thus far, are just from Thursday. Thursday was the "lite" army day. Now begins the actual Grand Tournament, when 180+ players show up to battle. I'm going to try to fit friday-sunday in two posts, so they are going to have a lot of photos. I hope you all enjoy them! As before, please click "read more" to get to the images (unless you came here directly). I was having some issues with chrome crashing due to the number of photos loading in the galleries, so had to minimize it a bit!
Back again. Finally finished all the photos from Thursday. This includes the invitational, trios, and some narrative shots. Coming tomorrow will be the start of the GT, and another 50+ armies. I can't believe how much time it's taking to go through these guys. I hope you are all enjoying them! As before, if you are visiting from within the blog, just click read more. If you got here from another site, just enjoy! I got a bit tired of trying to separate army and action photos, so I gave up, and now you are just getting my stream of photos that I took all Thursday long. If you are wondering who I am, I was the guy with the monopod asking if I could take photos :).
Hey Guys! As promised, I'm going to be putting up groups of photos of NOVA OPEN armies for the next few days. It's taking me a long time to go through, clean them up, resize, and post them...so it's taking a bit of time. At current count, I'm about 180 images through (100 out of 900). Trying to stick to mainly the army shots, then we'll hit up some great action shots! Because of how sporatic and time based htese photos were, I don't have the owner information handy. There was extremely limited time to take the photos. It seemed just as everyone set their armies out, they were calling for the assignments, and then everyone was moving and unloading their armies. If you want credit for your lovely army, just leave a comment. I'll also link to torrent of fire's ranking which can help everyone identify! So as to not kill the website, I'm breaking these up. Click read more to see the rest (unless you directly clicked here).
Hey Guys! What an absolutely amazing last few days. I've been at Nova Open having the time of my life. So many models, so many amazing people, so much gaming! I'm going to be breaking up these NOVA articles into sections, as there is just so much to cover. I took photos everyday, and have around 500 to go through, including nearly a shot of every single attendee's 40k army. Will take a bit to go through all the photos though, so make sure to check back as the week progresses. To start off with, I'd like to talk about the tournament atmosphere. Though I didn't participate directly, I had plenty of time to watch all sorts of players interacting with each other, and playing all sorts of games. There was invitational, trios, narrative, and GT campaigns. If you are one of those individuals who reads the main rumor blogs, or forums, you may be under the impression that these tournaments are a place filled with hatred, anger, and poor gamesman ship. This could not be further from the truth. Everyone was extremely friendly, with lots of comradery, and excellent games. Jeff over at Frontline gaming wrote on article on this, and it's spot on. Do not base your preconceptions of the tournament scene on forums or rumor sites. You'll be doing yourself a disservice. It's a wonderful time, and you will meet wonderful artists, gamers, and people. I highly recommend it. I learned so much these past few days from all aspects of the hobby...it will take me quite some time to tell you all of it! Just a quick update today, wanted to send you guys off with a nice video showcasing the size of the GT. I'll have another post tomorrow! Hey Guys! Sorry I haven't posted much this week. The weekend was a wash (had a great party with my friends), so didn't have much time for modeling, painting, or pretty much any hobby stuff.
In happier news, I'm off to NOVA tomorrow, to hopefully meet a bunch of fellow bloggers and have a blast watching dice roll and tiny plastic figures pew pew each other. (my kinda of fun!) I'm bringing my camera, and my laptop, so will try and blog everyday while I'm there. I'll be hanging with some of the Facing the Grey Tide guys, and particpating in the summary blog with House of Paincakes in the evenings. I'll be wearing my FYN T-shirt one day, and my Green dakka dakka one the next, so if you see me, please say hello! I visit a lot of blogs, and it would be wonderful to attach some faces to all those beautifully painted miniatures! Just got back from Pax East! I had a great time meeting new people, playing tons of tabletop, and watching the 40k tournaments take place. I didn't participate myself, but I was able to get a ton of great photos of the beautiful armies presented there!
